Quick Tips - 2

A Positive Attitude

How do you go about improving your attitude? We believe attitude is everything! A statue has never been erected to honor a critic. People call our office for information on books, tapes, and speeches. They often make statements like, "Is he always that positive?" or "How can he stay so positive?"
Our office responds. "It's easy because that's where all success starts." Success happens when you're in charge of your own attitude.
Begin a program of moving toward a more positive attitude. Read something inspiring or simply reflect on the good aspects of your day. Don't spend time watching negative TV programs or listening to reports on the police scanner. Before going to sleep, concentrate on pleasant thoughts so you will have pleasant dreams. You'll wake up feeling refreshed.
The first ten minutes of the day can make or break the entire day. By using these techniques and others we'll be bringing to you, your attitude can improve. Your success is up to you.

Priorities

How many irons do you have in the fire? Successful and effective people know the most important ones.
Effective means getting the most important things done. Working smarter, not harder. Efficient means getting things done faster, quicker, longer, and better. Be effective before being efficient. You must learn to type before you type 90 words a minute. You must learn to swim before you can win an Olympic gold medal.
Successful people know everyday what will make them effective. They know what the most important things are for that day. They make lists of things to do, and also prioritize the list: No. 1, No. 2, No. 3, and so on. Their day's success and eventual life's success is not based on getting everything done. Successful people get the most important things done first. Once you are able to develop and work on your prioritized list, then you can concentrate on getting more things done… which is efficiency.

Shattered Nerves

Do you have a method for calming your nerves? Most of us have found times everything seems to be out of balance. Successful people are able to handle this tension building by using one or several techniques. The National Association for Mental Health offers these five suggestions for calming your nerves.

1. Don't bottle up anger. Find a way to vent it such as physical activity or hard work.
2. Find a sympathetic ear. Putting vague fears into words helps ease them.
3. Occasionally listen to the another person's troubles. They'll put your own in a better
perspective.
4. Practice "giving in" on some points. Always insisting on having your own way takes a
high toll.
5. Turn your back on your problems for a while. A trip, a show or an amusing book can give your tangled nerves a valuable rest.

A method such as one of these can help calm tension. Complete an evaluation of your mental sense of balance and calm those nerves!
